This is a photo of a Tricolor Heron. These birds are fairly common through out Florida. They are about Half the size of the Great Blue Heron. These birds aren't shy, but unlike a Great Blue Heron they will not approach you. Nor have I really seen them scavenge like the Great Blue Herons will do.
The three colors in the Tri Colored Heron are actually four if you count his green colored legs, but their bodies include red, white and blue. This particular Photo of a Tri Colored Heron was taken at Maggiore Lake with my Fuji FinePix s5100. |
