Osprey in Flight

This photo of an Osprey in Flight was taken in one of the city of St Petersburg's many parks called Lake Maggiore. The Osprey is a bird of prey that's common all over Florida. It will not come very near humans but as long as they are in a tree are in the air they feel safe enough to be near urban areas. They will even nest alongside major through fares.

Osprey eat fish mostly but will also take small rabbits and other rodents. This photo is the best of many that I took that day. It's quite hard to zoom all the way in on a bird in flight evidently. Using a tripod to stabilize the shot so it's nice and crisp makes it as little more difficult. Luckily there's lots of Osprey around so I got lots of tries.
