War Veterans Memorial Park

A Pinellas County Park in

St. Petersburg Florida

War Veterans Memorial Park is in a pretty convient location for the city dwellers of St. Petersburg Fl and surrounding Pinellas County. For an urban park it's very nice. It has lots of shelters, a pretty nice trail and several inshore beaches adjoining Boca Ceiga Bay. A new addition to the park is currently being constructed. A 600' Oyster Bar Reef is being built just offshore.

It also has a couple monuments to the unlucky bastards who became pawns in our wars. Some wars were unavoidable Like WWI and WWII. There were other ware, like the current one where a great many of our soldiers lives and live of foreigners were sacrificed so that some rich and powerful people could become more rich and powerful. The cuurent war is a perfect example. But this isn't the place for discussion about war.

Some footprints in the wet sand.

The texture of the sand in this photo is kinda cool, don't you think?

Silly little fiddler crabs in the beach restoration area of the park.

A peek through the thick mangroves surrounding the shore of the backwater flats.

The trail goes through here?

Me and my Mongoose mountian bike sure do get around . . .

The previously mentioned sundial.

See they really do have lots of trails. And they're pretty nice for an urban park.

A close up of a larger fiddler crab hole.

Look closely, you'll find a bunch of little fiddler crabs.

An egret, hunting

What the heck is this thing?

Hint: The seagrass visible in this photo is about 6" high.

A wider photograph of the footprints in the sand.

Cute little tropical fishes!

The sundial from the front, I think.
