Swagrass Pak is another one of St. Petersburg Florida's Pinellas County Parks. As urban parks go, it's one of the best I've ever seen. It has a wonderful boardwalk, lots of exotic animals, birds, insects and what not. And of course it also has an alligator or two. This photo album shows the drama of a alligator trying to cahse down a meal.
First he tries for a box turtle but the turtle turns out to be too slippery for him and slides out of his mouth. Then he stalks a Blue Heron. The blue heron senses something amiss at the last moment and leaps off the water Hyacinth he was perched on and lands on the closet thing to him that's nopt in the water. Ironiclly it's a sign that says "Beware of Alligators!"
Heres a little movie clip of the gator swimming quickly toward the blue heron, after his failed attempt at the turtle.
There's also a few Peacocks strolling about in the yards near the entrances of Sawgrass Park. Only in Florida whuh?
